These days, there are hundreds of different sites that you can post your recruiting highlight video to. Some, like Youtube, allow you to post any type of video. It doesn’t matter if it is sports, comedy, television, you can post anything there. A lot of the sites that have been recently popping up are the ones that are tailored towards athletes.
BeRecruited (and many others like it) offer a free package to recruits but also have premium packages that you can pay money for. A site like GoBigRecruiting is unique in that they allow you to see what college coaches watch your video for a fee. But when I finish my highlight video and get it on the computer, should I narrow the field of places that it is uploaded to or just go crazy and send it everywhere?
I must say that I don’t think it is necessary to mass send your highlight videos to any place that will allow you to. There are so many sites out there that will let you create your own profile and send video that it may actually get extremely time consuming.

To start, the two places that I feel it is a must to get your video posted is Rivals and Scout. I know for a fact that college coaches search their databases and watch video of prospective athletes. These two sites are the industry leader when it comes to recruiting and they do a fantastic job. So make sure to find a contact at either site and get a profile that includes your video footage. What is different about these sites in comparison to others that I have mentioned is you must contact someone at their company to get your information added and entered into the system.
After that, I would pick a few select sites (between one and three is a good number) to post your footage. The reason is that I just don’t see college coaches wasting their time searching for video highlights on these sites that are not Rivals/Scout/247Sports and ESPN. They just don’t have the time to sort through them. If you send them a specific link to your video footage, then yes, they could watch it. But most schools won’t be spending an hour searching BeRecruited for a tight end recruit.
Take an hour on a weekend and create a few profiles on sites and make sure to include the video link. The reason is that you want to be able to include the link to college coaches when you send out your recruiting profile. This gives them a chance to do an early evaluation about you and see if you are good enough to play at their level. Like I have said before, if you are not good enough, the online video at least saves you the time and money of sending a recruiting highlight video and waiting for a response.
Test out a few of these systems and see which one does the best job of showing your highlight video. Because size is normally limited on many of these websites, the quality of the video could be different on various sites. That is why I would test a few and pick the best one to send out the link to.
Really, it isn’t worth your time to find every single video site that you can send your footage to. Coaches are not going to be searching these sites for prospects so keep that in mind before wasting your time and mass posting footage.
